1990年代のアクションゲームにインスパイアされた「The Cub」の発売日が2024年1月19日に決定

　Untold Talesは，Demagog Studioが開発する「The Cub」（PC / PS5 / PS4 / Nintendo Switch）の発売日を2024年1月19日と発表し，トレイラーを公開した（Xbox向けにも後日発売予定）。時差の関係か，Steamのストアページでは1月20日発売予定となっている。


　本作は，生態系の破局で文明の大半が失われてしまった世界を舞台とした2Dプラットフォームアクション。主人公は，火星へ避難するロケットに乗れずも，動物たちと共になんとかその破局を生き抜いたのだが，今度は火星から帰ってきた人々から追われることになる。

　トレイラーでは，自然に浸食されている都市の様子や，ツタを利用してジャンプしたり，キリンの首を滑り降りたり，追っ手をかわしたりといったアクションが確認できる。前述のように本作は2Dアクションなのだが，画面手前にいる敵が発射する爆弾のようなものを避けていく，疑似3Dのシーンもあるようだ。


　1990年代の「ジャングル・ブック」「アラジン」といったアクションゲームにインスパイアされているとのことで，それらのタイトルを知っている人ならさらに興味が湧きそうな作品となっている。インタフェースと字幕が日本語表示に対応予定となっているので，気になった人はウィッシュリストに入れておくといいだろう。
